RSA: How does Senior softball compare to the softball you played as a young adult?
What is the biggest difference?

Rich: The biggest difference is the defense. That’s why we are limited to 5 runs an inning.
On the offensive side, with the new senior bats, it seems like it’s the same or stronger
than it was when we played when we were younger.

RSA: When playing a tournament, what one rule would you like to see eliminated? And what
rule, if any, adopted?

Rich: Can’t think of any rule to be eliminated.

RSA: I’ve heard the hardest thing when you are managing a team is ‘to keep the players who
hate you away from the ones who are undecided.’ What do you feel has been your
biggest challenge in running your team?

Rich: You’re never going to keep everyone happy but try to keep everyone positive.

RSA: You have played in numerous Hall of Fame games. What is your favorite memory?
Rich: Meeting and talking with the older players and going 4 for 4 with a HR in my first
Hall of Fame game.

RSA: What is your definition of a great teammate?
Rich: Someone who appreciates, respects and realizes how fortunate they are to be able to
still play softball at our age.
